Janice Victoria Blunt, age 77, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2019 in the comfort of her home in Stanley, LA. She was born on July 5, 1942 in Wallace, WV to Rex Bates and Agnes White. Growing up, she loved spending time with her siblings, especially dancing with her sisters. She enjoyed her time as a Manager at McDonald’s. Janice’s special interests and hobbies included raising her family, working in her yard, hosting family and friends, drawing and coloring with her greatgrandchildren, and shopping. She had a knack for decorating for the holidays as well as making everyone around her feel like family. Next to her relationship with God, she cherished her family most. She was an amazing Nan to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was Nan to everyone that knew her.
Left to honor Janice’s legacy and remember her love are her 3 children; Greg (Cheri) O’Brien, Jim (Julie) O’Brien, and Hope (James) Cornett; 8 grandchildren; Lachelle (Derrick) Freshour, Lucas O’Brien, Kayla (Mike) Randazzo, Jami (Brady) Green, Haley Cook, Morgan O’Brien, Zack O’Brien, and Jake O’Brien; 6 great-grandchildren; Maddin, Sophia, Declan, August, Abigail, and Izabella; sisters; Marlene (Dale Dixon) Sayers, Diana (Doug) Hutson, and Susan (Mick) Cain; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved Jerry Blunt. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Jackson and Ralph.
Janice’s Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield with public visitation beforehand. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery, Grand Cane. There was a fellowship with the family at the Community Center in Stanley following the burial.
Janice’s family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Christus Hospice Group for their amazing care and support. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Martin and staff for caring for her heart all those years.
Nan will be remembered always for her endless generosity and kindness to others. She loved fiercely. She lived her life as a love offering to Christ, demonstrating His great love for us. “We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
