Burial followed at Barber Cemetery in the Lula Community, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 12:00 PM till time of service. Sandra was born August 31, 1956 in Mansfield, La to Purvis and Leona Rodgers Callender and passed away on April 14, 2016 in Shreveport, La. Sandra worked as the senior vice president for 34 years at Community Bank of Louisiana. Preceding Sandra in death were her parents Purvis and Leona Rodgers Callender; brothers, Dennis Callender, Roger Callender, and sister-in-law, Irene Callender. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband Billy R. Lee of 41 years; son, Michael P. Lee and wife Kim Lee; daughter, Kristi L. LaFleur and husband D.J. LaFleur; grandchildren, Emily, Natalie, Carter, Keylee LaFleur and Shelbi Lee; brothers, Eddie Callender, Neil Callender and wife Nancy, Larry Callender and wife Dixie, and sister-in- law, Becky Callender. Those honoring the life of Sandra as pallbearers are Casey Callender, Kevin Callender, Blaine Hodges, Steve Callender, Mark Callender, and Wiley LaVigne. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Callender.

Funeral services for Janet Whitt Timmons, 77, were held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Interment followed at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating was Bro. Tommy McMellon. Visitation with the family and friends was held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home. Janet was born on November 29, 1938 in Pocahontas, Virginia to Ellis Robert, Sr. and Florence Osborn Whitt and passed away on April 21, 2016. She graduated Class of 1956 from Fair Park High School in Shreveport. Janet was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Logansport. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Order of the Eastern Star. Preceding Janet in death were her parents; her brother, Ellis R. Whitt Jr.; and grandchild, Kari Powell. She is survived by her sister, Jean Miguez; loving son, Gary Wayne Timmons and wife Tammy; daughter, Valerie Powell and husband Ray; daughter, Cynthia Hendrickson Angelle and Keith; grandchildren, Kristopher Powell, Kristin Beard and husband Coreyel, Krystal Land and husband Jeremy, Mary Brown and husband Jon, Tyler Timmons, Brooke Timmons, Brittany Hendrickson, Brannon Lormand, Camille Angelle, Erin Angelle, Brook Guidry; and many great grandchildren. Honoring Janet as pallbearers were Don Vocinovich, Jeff Whitt, and Eugene Timmons, and grandsons Brannon Lormand, Kristopher Powell and Tyler Timmons. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Hendrickson, Robert Gurley and Porter Dowling. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Live Oak Nursing Home, for all the care, support and compassion they gave during Janet’s stay. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center and Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The family received friends earlier that day at 1:00 p.m. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery in Bellwood, LA. Polly was a member of Grace Home Church and a devout Christian. She was a loving mother and always put family first. She had a kind soul and would do everything she could to help someone in need. Preceding Polly in death are her parents Lucille Treadway Bolton and Leroy H. Bolton. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband C.T. “Tommy” Parks, Sr.; her children E.W. Bell III “Butch” and Cindy Turman with E.W. Bell, Jr. (deceased). C.T. Andrew V. “Andy” Loftus, III

Services for Andrew V. Loftus, III were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel where Rev. Charles Hall officiated. Interment followed at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Keatchie, LA. Visitation with the family was held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Andy was born on May 16, 1938 in Stonewall, LA and passed away April 28, 2016. He served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. Andy was in banking for over fifty years, beginning his career with Commercial National Bank. He will be especially remembered for his years at South Park Branch on Mackey Lane where he developed so many relationships with customers and employees alike. He retired as a Sr. Vice President with BanCorp South. In addition to his successful career in banking he also enjoyed cattle farming. For over forty years he was an integral part in the success of the Annual State Fair of Louisiana Jr. Livestock Sale. He never missed The Sale and could always be counted on to get the highest bid for the children. He also supported FFA Livestock Exhibitions and was a financial supporter for area 4-H Clubs. Recently he was inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Club Hall of Fame. He served on the Ark-La-Tex Agricultural Council, The State Fair of Louisiana Board of Directors and served in many positions in The West Shreveport Lions Club. Andy served as a Deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church in Keatchie, LA and actively served in many capacities on the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Association, and DeSoto Parish Cattlemen Association. He was an avid supporter of the Grand Cane Central School. He is preceded in death by his parents, his uncle Bryan Hassell and his wife Katie, brother, Danny Loftus, and his sister Edith Faye Loftus Henderson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Zelda Chamberlain Loftus; adopted children, Lynn Loftus and Sandra Loftus; sister, Mary Sue Loftus Atkisson; brother, Burton L. Loftus and wife Nell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and special friends who will all remember the impact made on their lives by “Poppy” or “Uncle Andy”. The family would like to send a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Willis- Knighton North for their care and compassion. Honoring Andy as pallbearers will be Dan Caldwell, Bill Henderson, Jon Lowe, Johnny May, Richard Sale, and Dennis Wilson. Marie’s deceased husband Thomas R. Chowns took Marie to celebrate his birthday with the angels on the 27th of April, 2016. She was born on February 28, 1932 in Mansfield, LA. She was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Margie L Porter Howell. Preceded in death was her husband Thomas R. Chowns married February 11, 1948 in Mansfield, LA and her brother Tom Henry Howell. Marie was very active in her community. She worked at Central Commercial for 10 years in the Lady’s Ready To Wear, a volunteer Pink Lady and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include her son Steve Chowns and wife Linda; daughters, Kaye DeVoe and husband Dude, Karen Eads and husband Chris, all of Kingman, AZ. She has 6 grandchildren, Chip DeVoe and wife Tera of Big Pine Key, FL, Mark DeVoe and wife Robin of Key West, FL, Boogie Chowns and wife Angie of Mountain Green, Utah, Biz Chowns of Frierson, LA, Eddie Eads and wife Deana Eads of Kingman, AZ, Belienda Schultz of Westchester, IL; 19 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and one due in August, Two sisters, Rena Britt of Mansfield, LA and Betty Holland and husband Dave Holland of Walland, Tenn. The family would like to thank KRMC Hospice Center for the wonderfule care and Rose Bruce for her special care. Marie will be taken home to Mansfield, LA and buried at aimwell Cemetery in Zwolle, LA.

Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Stanley B. Hayes, returned to his Heavenly home, Saturday May 7, 2016. He was born in Urania, Louisiana, February 24, 1937, to Bunyon Hayes and Carrie Powell Hayes. He is the youngest of five children. Stanley was a Navy veteran and worked in the oil and gas industry. He loved horses, antique cars, and motorcycles. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served others in many capacities throughout his life. Stanley is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn; children Denise (Lothar) Batschauer, Kelly McGillicuddy, Denise (Michael) Ross, and Russell (Emily) Poole; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Maxwell; and special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Luther Hayes; sister, Merle Dearmon, and sister, JoAnn Wiggins. The family received friends at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Hwy 165 N., Monroe, La, on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 6-8 Pm. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:00 Am where Bishop Don Hunsaker and Justin Hardy, officiated. Interment followed the service at 1:00 PM at Squires Cemetery, Summerville, LaSalle Parish. Pallbearers were Derek Poole, Aaron Ross, Lothar Batschauer, Glade Smith, Howard Bailey; and Adam Bailey; with honorary pallbearers, James Coker, Bill Ober, and Ronnie Taylor.

Susan "Gwen" Ratcliff Truitt

Susan "Gwen" Ratcliff Truitt passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on May 1, 2016, in Logansport, LA, following a 13 year battle with cancer. She was 62 years old. Gwen was born on Sept 8, 1953 in Jena, LA to parents, Thomas W. and Aileen Pyle Ratcliff. She was a member of Mims Springs Baptist Church. Gwen married Donald Allen Truitt in April 1985. She welcomed 2 step-sons into her life and shortly after gave birth to a baby girl. As her mother stated, she was the happiest pregnant woman she had ever seen. She then decided to pursue a degree in nursing. Gwen found her true passion as an RN by helping others. She touched many lives in and out of the hospital. Gwen was a generous, deeply caring soul, with a joyful and infectious laugh. She was admired by many for her strength, courage, and determination to live life to the fullest, even throughout her 13 year battle. She feared no obstacle and never hesitated to take on a challenge by applying her skills in “Gwengineering”. Gwen is survived by her husband Donald Allen Truitt of Logansport, LA; her daughter and 2 step-sons, Kelly Boyett of New Orleans, LA; Allen Truitt and wife Diane of Center, TX; Andrew Truitt and wife Cheryl of Muenster, TX; grandchildren Eli Hutchins, Lanie, Lexie, and Avery Truitt; her sister Tempie Ratcliff Bush and husband Keith, children Thomas and Katherine of Bossier City, LA; her brother Chad Ratcliff and wife Tina of Judsonia, AR; and devoted friend/sister Jo Stone of Center, TX; Gwen was blessed with countless friends of whom she also considered family. Gwen is preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence (Tootsie) Pierce Jr.; father Thomas W Ratcliff; mother Aileen Pyle Ratcliff; brother Ronnie Ratcliff; sister Edythe (Edie Wee) Davidson; and son-in-law Buddy Boyett. Memorial Services were held Sunday May 8, 2016, at Mims Springs Baptist Church – Located at 1227 HWY 765 Logansport, LA 71049. Visitation was at 2pm, and memorial services started at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Love, INC of Nacogdoches, TX, or to the Brad Wiggins/Adam Matthews scholarship fund with First Baptist Church of Logansport, LA. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Gerard Ventura and his staff, as well as Superior Hospice Care. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Burial followed at Union Springs Cemetery, Converse, LA. The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Nancy was born on April 26, 1935 in Converse, LA to Curtis Truitt Lum and Ruby Terrell Lum and passed away on May 2, 2016. She was known as “Sister” to her own sister and family members. Nancy enjoyed church activities with her Sunday school class. She will be missed by all her family and friends. One of her favorite things to do was meeting with her sister, and sister-in-law to eat lunch together. Nancy was an avid cookbook collector. We daughters loved our mother and have special memories to reflect on in the days to come. Sister is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, L. R. (Shorty) Vice, brother, James Truitt Lum, and nephew, Stephen Truitt Lum. Leaving to cherish her memory is her daughters, Beverly Vice Wallis and husband, Bruce of Mansfield, TX, Judy Vice Chavers and Rick Waters of Shreveport, LA, and Jenelle Vice Rains of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren,  Veronica Wallis, Valerie Wallis Brown and husband Dave, Vanessa Wallis, and Logan Kent Wallis and wife, Tayla; great-granddaughters, Grace Wallis and Lucy Wallis; sister, Susie Lum Ezernack and husband Gerald; and sister-in-law, Sharon Lum. Bobbie Vinson Woodard, “Vinson”, a Haywood County North Carolina native, died unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday, May 21, 2016 near his home in Converse, Louisiana. Vinson was 68 years old. Vinson was a man of hard work and a brilliant furniture restoration craftsman. He had a keen sense of humor and a perpetual glint in his eye. Vinson’s passing is sure to conjure up many memorable stories for those who knew him. Vinson was preceded in death by his parents; Bonnie and Leslie Woodard and his wife; Kay Woodard. He is survived by: his siblings; Phyllis Evans of Waynesville NC and Wayne Woodard of Flat Rock NC, sons; Jason Woodard of Waynesville NC, John Woodard of Tucker, GA and Jordan Woodard of Statesboro, GA, and stepchildren; Jennifer Rider of Portland, Oregon, Brian Green of Gainesville, GA, Jonathan Green of Dublin. Steve Edward Bounds

A Memorial Service for Steve Edwin Bounds will be held at Rock Chapel on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Roy “Thumper” Miller will be officiating. Steve Bounds, age 59, of Logansport, Louisiana passed away on May 25, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 16, 1957 to Charles and Laverne Bounds in Monroe, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, where he met his wife Laura. They married on October 5, 1995 and had one son, Robert “Bobby” Edwin Bounds. Coaching and mentoring young men, especially Bobby, was his passion. Steve and Bobby could be spotted all over DeSoto parish playing baseball, basketball and football. He was also a fan of all Texas athletic teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Steve was employed by the Mansfield Historic Site. He co-authored two articles for the magazine “North and South”. Steve also enjoyed the outdoors and Civil War reenacting. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Laura Maupin Bounds; son Bobby; sister Karen Bounds Adolphus (Fred) and nephews Travis, Robert and Luke Adolphus and a host of other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA 71101. The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Boniol and the staff at the Cancer Center at Schumpert-Highland Hospital, Dr. Benjamin Leggio, and the staff at Grace Home.

James Edward Banister

James Edward Banister, 46, of Houston, Texas passsed away on May 20, 2016 at Houston Methodist Hospital. He was born on Sept. 22, 1969 in Mansfield, LA to J.T. and Norma Williams Banister. James, a hard worker, loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved working in the oilfield and spent 19 years working for Hess in the Gulf of Mexico and Equatorial Guinea. A personality like none other, James touched the lives of people all around the world. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.I. and Elizabeth Williams; his brother, John Banister; and daughter, Brooklyn Banister. Survivors include his girlfriend, Milena Mazurkiewicz; his mother, Norma Williams; his son, Brody Banister; his daughter, Hailey Eaves; his son, Hunter Banister; sisters, Frances Caillouet and husband Mark and Anita Thacker and husband Olan. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends also survive Mr. Banister. Graveside services for James were at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Pelican Cemetery in Pelican, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral from 10:00 until 1:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2016

Mary Lou Rice passed from this life on May 12, 2016, at the age of 26. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 23, 1990, in her short life she was known for her strong sense of justice and care for underdogs, both human and canine, always backed up with a strong smile. Mary rescued numerous abused dogs, always offering help for those in need. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Donna Allen and William Elliott of New Orleans; her father and stepmother, Michael and Leslie Rice of El Dorado, Arkansas; her sisters, Marissa Rice and Tara Murphree of El Dorado, Rebecca Smith of New Orleans, and Jennifer Brindler of Alexandria, Virginia; Grandparents Ron and Angelina Rice of Shreveport, Fred and Diane Schaejbe of Fredonia, Wisconsin; and Eleanor and the late Frank Elliott of Covington, Louisiana. A Requiem Mass was held at the chapel at Christ Church Cathedral, New Orleans, on Monday, May 23. Internment will take place at 9:30 AM, June 13, 2016 at the family plot at Old Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating at both services is Mary’s great uncle, The Rt. Rev. Charles Edward Jenkins, III, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Villalobos Rescue Center, www.vrcpitbulls.net

James Benton (J.B.) Sibley

Services for James Benton (J.B.) Sibley, 87, were held Friday, May 27, 2016 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Stanley, LA at 10:00 AM with Reverend Richard Tull officiating and assisted by Reverend Charles Hall. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation was held at the Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. J.B. was born June 28, 1928, in Mansfield, LA, to William Ernest Sibley and Maudie Morrison Sibley and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2016, at his residence in Stanley, LA. Preceding him in death were sister, Myrtle Woods; brother, Jack Sibley; grandson, Brandon Heath Sepulvado; and great-grandson, Garin Redding Sibley. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Sibley; children, Jackie Sepulvado and husband Davis, Penny Shepherd, James “Bubba” Sibley and wife Jessie, Rhonda Hudspeth and husband Ryan, Anita Dockens and husband Kevin, Billie Timmons and husband Eugene; sister, Sarah Pepmiller; brother, William Sibley, Jr. and wife Jean; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons Brodie Sibley, Mackenzie Dockens, Witt Dockens, E. J. Timmons, Jarrod Sibley, and Alan Sibley

Jeb Stuart “Jake” Lord, Jr

Funeral services for Jeb Stuart Lord, Jr., 89, were held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 12, 2016 at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. Rev. Jon M. Lord, Dr. Gevan Spinney, and Dr. Clovis Sturdivant officiated. Interment followed at the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Jeb Stuart "Jake" Lord, Jr., was born on the family farm near Pelican, Louisiana on September 27, 1926 and passed from this life on June 10, 2016. He and his six siblings learned farm work while attending nearby Pelican School. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1943 and joined the Marines that fall when he was 17. After boot camp, he was assigned to the 7th Marine Regiment for the landings at Peleliu on September 15, 1944. He was wounded on Peleliu and spent his 18th birthday onboard a hospital ship. Healed up in time for Okinawa, he was promoted to Corporal and led his own squad in that campaign. Lacking sufficient points to return home at war's end, he was sent with the 1st Marine Division for occupation duties in China. Jake was awarded the Purple Heart, Pacific Campaign with 2 Battle Stars, China Occupation, and World War II Victory Medals, along with the Marine Combat Ribbon. Returning home, Jake married his high school sweetheart, Betty McCullough, on Easter Sunday, 1946. Taking advantage of the GI Bill, Jake enrolled at Louisiana Tech that fall in the Forestry Department. After graduation, he worked in Arkansas for the Dierks Company until 1966. At that time, he was hired by Manville to work in the forestry office in West Monroe until retirement in 1993. Jake once said that he enjoyed every day of his work as a forester. A deacon in the Southern Baptist Church for over 60 years, he also served in church music in several churches as a song leader, choir director, and as a member of a gospel quartet, The Watchmen. Jake was a faithful member of the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church for the past 50 years. His gentle spirit and heart of Christian love impacted the lives of many people. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.S. and Clara Lord, his six brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Matthew Lord. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty McCullough Lord, his children Lyn Lord, Jeb S. Lord, III and wife Becky, Jon Lord and wife Lisa, Gaylord Lord and wife Dianne, and Clayton Lord and wife Lisa. He also leaves grandchildren: Jeanette Johnson, Jesse Lord Johnson, Jacque Dunford, Juli Smith, Amanda Hanegan, Andrea Spinney, Jon S. Lord, Derek Lord, Ryan Lord, Adam Lord, Ashley Hamm, and Sarah Hyatt, and 23 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church, the Gideons International, or the Methodist Children's Home, Ruston. Darren Joshua (DJ) Frazier

Memorial services honoring the life of Darren (DJ) Frazier, 25, were at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Wallace Baptist Church, in Wallace, LA. DJ was born on September 29, 1990 to his parents, Darren and Kathy Frazier and went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2016. DJ was known by many and a friend to all. Always kind and affectionate and a true comedian. His magnetic personality and beautiful smile could light up a room. DJ was an avid outdoors man. He loved hunting, fishing, and motor cycles. He was a thrill seeker, adventurer, and fearless in every way. Larger than life. Preceding DJ in death were his paternal grandparents Neal and Ernel Frazier and daughter Isabelle Hope Frazier. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Darren and Kathy Frazier; maternal grandparents, Roger and Chris Anders; wife Julie Frazier, and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Dorothy Slay

Dorothy Slay, 63, of Mansfield, LA ascended to her heavenly home on Friday, June 10, 2016 after a very short, but hard fought battle with cancer. Visitation was held on Monday June 13th at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Services were held at 10am Tuesday, June 14th at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield with Rev. Everett Kingston and Thomas Tuck officiating. Interment followed at Prude Cemetery in Stanley, LA. Mrs. Slay was born October 16, 1952 in Ringold, LA. She was a loving wife and mother, known to many as the cake lady for making the best cakes and sweets around. Dorothy was married to her best friend and husband Wain Slay for 44 years. She truly loved everyone and was always there to lend a helping hand. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Ayres; father, Lester Ayres; brother, Ray Ayres; son, Phillip Slay; three nephews, Joe Ferguson; Chris "Poncho" Ferguson and Tim Ferguson. She is survived by husband Wain Slay, son Michael Slay & wife Lori; two sisters Shirley Ferguson and husband James, Kay Bonnette and husband Garry; one brother David Ayres Honoring Dorothy as pallbearers are Brad Burr, Justin Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson, Kenneth "Spooky" Freeman, John LeBlanc and Steve Melton. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Phillips and Jim Sullivan. The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Boniol and everyone at Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center and St. Joseph Hospice for their support and services provided during Dorothy's illness.
