JANICE VICTORIA BLUNT

Janice Victoria Blunt, age 77, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2019 in the comfort of her home in Stanley, LA. She was born on July 5, 1942 in Wallace, WV to Rex Bates and Agnes White. Growing up, she loved spending time with her siblings, especially dancing with her sisters. She enjoyed her time as a Manager at McDonald’s. Janice’s special interests and hobbies included raising her family, working in her yard, hosting family and friends, drawing and coloring with her greatgrandchildren, and shopping. She had a knack for decorating for the holidays as well as making everyone around her feel like family. Next to her relationship with God, she cherished her family most. She was an amazing Nan to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was Nan to everyone that knew her.

Left to honor Janice’s legacy and remember her love are her 3 children; Greg (Cheri) O’Brien, Jim (Julie) O’Brien, and Hope (James) Cornett; 8 grandchildren; Lachelle (Derrick) Freshour, Lucas O’Brien, Kayla (Mike) Randazzo, Jami (Brady) Green, Haley Cook, Morgan O’Brien, Zack O’Brien, and Jake O’Brien; 6 great-grandchildren; Maddin, Sophia, Declan, August, Abigail, and Izabella; sisters; Marlene (Dale Dixon) Sayers, Diana (Doug) Hutson, and Susan (Mick) Cain; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved Jerry Blunt. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Jackson and Ralph.

Janice’s Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield with public visitation beforehand. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery, Grand Cane. There was a fellowship with the family at the Community Center in Stanley following the burial.

Janice’s family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Christus Hospice Group for their amazing care and support. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Martin and staff for caring for her heart all those years.

Nan will be remembered always for her endless generosity and kindness to others. She loved fiercely. She lived her life as a love offering to Christ, demonstrating His great love for us. “We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

Graveside services honoring the life of Bobby O. Rea were held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oakdale, LA at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jason Townley officiating.

Bobby was born on February 2, 1942 to Orvill & Laverne Rea. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Wanda Rea.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Bernice Rea; son, Bobby L. Rea; daughter, Vickie Luengas; eight grandchildren, Lacye Rials, Lindsey Rea, Caitlin Rea, Brittany Rea, Mikel Rea, Lakin Wilson, Lance Durbin and Zach Durbin and eight great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Rials, Raelyn Rials, Jonathan Procell, Hallea Procell, Elizabeth Calhoun, Daniel Calhoun Jr., Ashton Lynn and Kyalee Garner.

May God bless him and hold him close.

Funeral Services were held at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria, Texas on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 12:30 PM for Aubrey Lynn Valentine, age 87, who passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Greatwood Homes Assisted Living in Victoria, Texas. Visitation for family and friends began at 11:00 AM. Services were performed by Pastor Larry Green, Chaplain for Hospice of South Texas.

Interment was at O. E. Price Cemetery at Noon, Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Logansport, Louisiana, and will be presided over by Pastor Shawn Thrapp of First Baptist Church of Logansport.

Aubrey was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on March 13, 1932. He was the only child of Claude Valentine and Allie Neely Valentine. Aubrey grew up in Pelican (early years) and Logansport where he graduated from Logansport High School. This is where he met his High School Sweetheart and future wife Maxine Creech. They were married on July 3rd 1952 at the First Baptist Church of Logansport. Aubrey is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. He also was drafted and served 2 years in Korea as a Sergeant in the United States Army with the 74th Engineering Co. Aubrey retired from Calhoun County Independent School District after 30 years where he had been a History Teacher and an ICT Coordinator. While working for CCISD he also coached Junior High School Football, drove a school bus, and taught Driver’s Education. In addition to teaching school Aubrey was also a Commercial Pilot and flew crop dusters during the summer months for 14 years. Aubrey loved hunting, fishing, and football.

Aubrey is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Creech Valentine and his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Rocky and his wife Mary Ann of Rockport, Patrick and his wife Linda of Victoria; and one daughter Lisa Valentine Minatrea and her husband Tommy of Inez, Texas; Six grandchildren: Stacy Valentine Thole (Doug) and Travis Valentine (Stacey), Erik Valentine (Stacey) and Ashley Valentine Kendrick (Kyle), Brittney Minatrea Tresselt (Dustin) and Chase Minatrea; Nine great-grandchildren: Hunter and Mason Thole, Kinzie, Aiden, and Corey Valentine, Benjamin Niesner, Alexis Resendez, Addyson and Addy Mae Minatrea.

Pallbearers were Rocky, Patrick, Erik, and Travis Valentine, Tommy and Chase Minatrea.

Honorary pallbearers were Hunter and Mason Thole, Aiden and Corey Valentine and Benjamin Niesner.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family asks donations be made to Hospice of South Texas or First Baptist Church, 1009 Gum Street, Logansport LA, 71049.

Funeral services for Chief Wayne Nichols were held at First Baptist Church in Mansfield, Louisiana on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Mike McConnaughey of First Pentecostals of Mansfield officiating assisted by Bro. Leonard Nichols. Burial followed at Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville, Louisiana. Family received friends for visitation at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Wayne was born on October 16, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Alva Nichols and Tommie Jean Hanlon Nichols. He entered into rest on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Regina Nichols and brother, Rodney Nichols. Those left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of over 20 years, Susan Free Nichols of Frierson, Louisiana; son, Brandon Nichols and wife, Jeannie of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter, Colleen Sisson and husband, John of Mansfield, Louisiana; brother, Mark Nichols & fiancée, Kathy Morvan of Vinton, Louisiana; nephew, Matt; grandchildren, Alyse, Autumn, Nick, Collin, Aiden, Gage and Kaylee; great-grandson, Charlie and a host of family and friends.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother and pawpaw who served as a loyal firefighter for over 30 years with multiple fire departments in the area. He loved motorcycle riding, fishing and the outdoors. Wayne was a very talented welder; he loved Christ, his church and serving others. He shared his love of God with everyone. His grandchildren and his fur babies were the loves of his life.

The family would like to express special thanks to all DeSoto Parish First Responders, Bro. McConnaughey, the members of the First Pentecostals of Mansfield, Thomas Houston, Billy and Karen Locke, for their love, care, and support.

Honoring Wayne, as pallbearers will be Thomas Houston, Bruce Brewer, Logan Calhoun, Jonathan Wadkins, Haden Ezernack, Paul Reed, Matt Nichols and Buddy Baker.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were all of the DeSoto Parish Firefighters, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office and Mansfield Police Department.

Services were held honoring the life of Carolyn Ann Permenter, Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Grand Cane Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Scott officiating.

Carolyn was born in Dallas, Texas on October 8, 1937 and went to be with her Lord on October 17, 2019 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was a longtime pianist and organist for the Grand Cane Baptist Church as well as for the First Methodist Church of Grand Cane. She loved cooking, playing bridge, attending Bible studies and sharing her love for the Lord with her children and all of those around her. She loved her friends and was lovingly known as the “Jelly Lady” at local community events. But her greatest enjoyment of life was time spent in her kitchen and with her four children and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Inez Carroll and the father of her children H.C. (Bud) Permenter. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dave Permenter and wife Tammy, daughters, Vicky Yeglic and husband Lenny, Chris Plymale and husband Steve and Cathy Neil and husband Mike. Grandchildren include Rickye Welton, Jr. and wife Amy, Misty Yeglic-Broughton, Brittani Neil, Ashley Permenter, Cole Plymale, Lacey Anthony and husband Thomas, and Reagan Plymale. Great-Grandchildren are Garrett Welton, Gage Welton, Mackenzie Broughton, Trace Carter, Ashton Permenter, Madison Broughton, Connor Anthony and Reid Anthony.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mansfield Nursing Center for the love and care given to their mother over the past years of her declining health.

Leonard was born on September 14, 1940 in Converse, Louisiana to Eugene Lloyd and Annie Moore Smith. He entered into rest on October 18, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lloyd Wesley Smith; brothers, R.W. Smith, Huey Smith and Eddie Smith and his sisters, Jean Cramer and Mattie Allen.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia Smith of Mansfield, LA; daughter, Sharon Farris & husband Eddie of Mansfield, LA; brothers, Ray Smith of Converse, LA and Roy Smith & wife Connie of Converse, LA; sister, Joy Straus & husband Chester of Logansport, LA; grandchildren, Robbie Simmons & wife Wendy of Coushatta, LA, Jacob Farris & Oreatta Harvey of Castor, LA and Lindsaye Farris of Mansfield, LA; great-grandchildren, Trey Simmons, Jeffrey Harvey, Izabella Harvey, Adleigh Farris, Jake Farris and Bryson Burton.

Carmel, LA – Danny Gene May age 70 of Carmel, LA passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday afternoon at Christus Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.

Danny was born in Converse, LA to Robert and Katharene Ada. His family moved to Shreveport when he was a child and they moved to Cedar Grove. He attended Woodlawn High School. After High School he joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded numerous other awards. After the war he married the love of his life, Debbie May, who he met when he was 15 and she was 12. They raised 6 wonderful children. Danny was a very hard worker doing construction work most of his life, which later led him into owning his own roofing and construction business. He was known to work daylight to dark in order to provide for the many needs of his family. He taught all of his sons great work ethic which molded them into successful men today. His wife would say that “he tried hard to provide for us all because he was Much Man”. Darlin packed his minnow bucket lunch everyday so he could crawl from one roof to another to buy prom dresses and football gear for his children. Danny coached at the Westwood Athletics Asso. in Shreveport. He had true passion for watching the players grow from the lessons they learned through playing sports. Danny had a passion for hunting, watching sports, gardening, and most of all playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Debbie Brooks May; Children, Ronni Todd, Penni Todd, Robert May, Matt May, Clay Adams wife Jill, Neil May wife, Erin; Brothers and Sisters, Robert May, Ray May, Roy May, “Fannie” Garland Flores; and 18 Grandchildren, Nicholas Todd, Sr., Sonni Bossier, Brittany Mayhall, Rheagan Mayhall, Tanner Mayhall, Maggie McWilliams, Brooklynn McWilliams, Corbin May, Jordan May, Jacob May, Matthew May, Morghan May, Dalton Adams, Beaux Adams, Ava Adams, Alexis Roberts, Bailey May, Peyton May; 9 Great Grandchildren, Jayce Wright, Nicholas Todd Jr., Tusco Todd, Cy Todd, Bralee May, Noah Kate May, Mckenna May, Finn Bradley, Elijah May.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Rose Neath Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Harper officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jason May, Jacob May, Peyton May, Lawann Latson, Nicholas Todd, Charlie May, Raybon Marter, Jordan May, and Tanner Mayhall. CHARLOTTE DENISE OTT McCUNE

Funeral services honoring the life of Charlotte Denise Ott McCune were held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mac Black and Rev. Azell Ott officiating. Family received friends for visitation at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Interment was held at Pelican Cemetery in Pelican, LA.

Charlotte Denise Ott was born May 7, 1959 to Marvin and Lottie Ott. As a small child, her mother noted an innate need to care for the sick. Her mother encouraged her to assist in the care of her ill father, grandparents, siblings, as well as injured animals.

During a stay at Clara Springs Encampment one summer, Charlotte felt she was led by God to know that He had created her to be a nurse. She never doubted that calling. With continual prayer and intervention from God, Charlotte lived to serve in that calling for over 30 years.

Charlotte talked to her patients throughout her career about God’s love for them. She led many to Him through the gifts in her life. That is what those who have known her see Charlotte as- A Gift!

Charlotte married Jerry Lee McCune on July 17, 1976. They have two sons, Jerry Patrick McCune and Paul Samuel McCune, daughter-inlaw Harmony, and grandchildren John Patrick McCune, Devon Michael McCune, Joseph Lynn McCune, and Faith Ann McCune.

Charlotte joined her parents and oldest sister, Sue Ott Mayes (Joe) in the Heavenly Family Circle on October 24, 2019. Also left on Earth to remember her lovingly are her siblings Betty Ott Butler (Ronnie), Diane Ott Lord (Larry), Marvin Ott (Karen), Vicki Ott (Bill Gardner), Mary Ott, Tim Ott (Sonya), Kathy Ott Forrest (Ricky), Glynn Ott (Rhonda), Mike Ott (Penny), April Ott, Lisa Ott Goins (Lee), many nieces and nephews, her BFF longer than memory, Frances Behan Lowe, and countless others whose lives have been touched by her legacy.

Serving Charlotte as pallbearers were Vicki Ott, Mary Ott, Glynn Ott, Allen Ebarb, Kevin Ebarb, Quentin Hill, Jacob Ott, and John Bilyeu.

Honorary pallbearers were Barry McCune, Derrick McCune, Brent Ingvardsen, and Jeffrey Ott.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

JERRY STEPP

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Jerry Stepp, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 77.

Jerry was born on April 22, 1942 near Mansfield, LA to Marvin and Evanell (Agnew) Stepp. Jerry was past President of his 1960 graduating class and attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA on a football scholarship briefly before moving to the Houston, TX area where he met his wife of 52 years, Sandy. They raised two children together, Brandon their son and Brandie their daughter. In 1995, Jerry helped start a tank trailer dealership, Trailers of Texas, with his business partner Randy. Jerry was in the trailer industry for over 51 years. He was very well respected in the industry and key figure in Nabors Trailers, Fruehauf, and ultimately Trailers of Texas.

Jerry had a passion for Houston sports teams. He loved the Astros, Texans, and Rockets. He also loved to hunt and fish. Some of his favorite spots were near Hondo, TX to hunt and on Toledo Bend to fish. Jerry also loved attending the Liberty Opry with his wife and friends. They met several great people and artists over many years at the small town shows all over Texas. Jerry will be most remembered for his infectious smile, his compassionate spirit, quick wit, & story telling. Jerry always found the good in people and always went above and beyond to help anyone he could.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father Marvin, and his mother, Evanell, & his three sisters, Onita Deas, Annette Schimming , & Kay Pavolck. He is survived by his wife Sandy, his two children, Brandon & Brandie, his four grandchildren, Nick, Lauren, Alex, & Zoe, and his brother Dale.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 at the Atascocita United Methodist Church located at 19325 Pinehurst Trail Dr Humble, TX 77346 at 11:00am.

In lieu on flower donations we are asking anyone to donate please contribute to the Sunshine Kids Foundation in his memory.

Charlie was born on November 27, 1944 in Mansfield, LA to E.A. and Lura Tatum Hubier. He entered into rest on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Mansfield, LA.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Pam Hubier of Mansfield, LA; sons, Kevin Hubier & wife Robin of Natchitoches, LA; Tatum Hubier of Mansfield, LA; Dillon Hubier & wife Denise of Mansfield, LA and Cole Hubier of Mansfield, LA; daughters, Lori Jenkins & husband Ralph of Dodson, LA and Kami Dayries of Bossier City, LA; sisters, Carolyn Brown of Shreveport, LA and Marilyn Waldron & husband David of Shreveport, LA; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Charlie worked 50 years in the automotive industry and the last 35 with Marketplace Chevrolet.

Serving as pallbearers were Britt Hubier, Blake Hubier, Josh Dayries, Cody Cooke, Dustin Stoma, Kevin McWhorter, Will Junkin and Paul McFadden.

Johnny was born May 1, 1942 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to John Jackson Sims and Florence Wilma Carr Sims. He entered into rest on October 23, 2019 in Converse, Louisiana.

Preceding Johnny in death were his parents; daughter, Jeannie Marie Sims and numerous brothers and sisters.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Johnny Ray Sims of Converse, LA and Jack W. Sims & wife Brandy of Converse, LA; daughter, Kathy Nelson & husband James Jacobs of Mansfield, LA; grandchildren, Jessie Sims, Bruce Nelson, Brittany Nelson, Ashley Sims, Marissa Sims and Kindra Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Tris Renae Nelson and Keagen Liam Nelson.

Serving Johnny as pallbearers were Jerry Sims, Jeremy Babesh, Joshua Deloach, Ricky Laffitte, James Jacobs and Randy Sims.

Family received friends for visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment was held at Sardis Cemetery in Converse, LA.

Clara was born on May 1, 1939 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Charlie E. Ford and Blanche C. Lord. She entered into rest on October 27, 2019 in Many, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles W. Davis; sisters, Jean Manning and Mary Welborn; brothers, Charlie Ford and James Rambin and grandson, Christopher Harville.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Robert E. Davis and wife Jeanne of Stonewall, LA; daughter, Diane Garcie and husband Johnnie E. of Converse, LA; grandchildren, Mindy Stricker, Melody Minter, Tiffany Lafollette, Robert Davis Jr., Miranda Davis; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Honoring Mrs. Webb as pallbearers will be her grandchildren Christian Harville, Jayden Davis, Conner Davis, Cameron Davis, Robert Davis, Jr. and Dalton Ott.

NORA FAYE ENGLISH CONNELL

Nora Faye English Connell of Grand Cane, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer at Colonial Oaks in Bossier City, La. She was born on June 18, 1937 in the Lula Community in Desoto Parish, La.

Nora Faye met the love of her life, Jack G. Connell at Nabors Trailers in Mansfield where she worked in the office and Jack was a truck driver for many years. Together they raised Simmental cattle and sold calves to 4-H children who won numerous awards at the Louisiana State Fair. Even after Jack’s death she loved working and taking care of their cows every day.

Nora’s last employment was as a bookkeeper with her family at English Auto Parts and Wrecker Service in Mansfield. Nora was fondly referred to as “Aunt Nora Faye” by most everyone and famous for her homemade brownies which were the favorites of the Men’s Coffee Bunch at work.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Clara and Hollis English and husband, Jack G. Connell and brother, Travis English and sister in law, Hilda English. Nora is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Connell of West Monroe, La and Jacklyn Connell Maines, husband Stewart and grandsons, Matthew and Adam Maines and brother, Don Ray English and sister in law, Joyce along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service was at the Smyrna Cemetery on Hwy 3015 in the Smyrna Community outside of Grand Cane, La on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 3:00 pm.

James Jagneaux, 82, passed away on November 7, 2019 after a battle with lung cancer.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. on November 9, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 124 Fellowship Circle, Converse, LA with Brother Weyland Gauntt officiating. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment was held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, LA.

James was born on June 24, 1937 in China, Texas. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a longtime automobile dealer. He has owned Triple J Motors in Mansfield, LA since 1981. Since his retirement, his sons have continued to operate the business.

Mr. Jagneaux loved horses and always surrounded himself with them. He was a very compassionate person and loved to help others. You could call him day or night and he would drop everything to come to your aid.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Pauline Jagneaux and two brothers, Alvin Jagneaux and George Jagneaux.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Linda Jagneaux; sons, Jeff Jagneaux and wife Renee; Kirk Jagneaux and wife Jennifer; daughter, Angie Jagneaux Chapman and husband Johnny; sisters, Lois Violette, Jackie Pugh and husband Bill, and Marian Brown; grandchildren, Chase Zittrauer, Connor Zittrauer, Jared Jagneaux, Allison Jagneaux, Lucas Jagneaux and Tobin Jagneaux and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring James as pallbearers are his grandsons and nephew. Honorary pallbearer will be Allison Jagneaux.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942

His children would like to thank their mother for all the love and devotion she had for him. She was a selfless caretaker through his recent illness.

KERMIE SMITH VALENTINE

Funeral services for Kermie Smith Valentine were held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Mansfield, LA. Visitation began at 9:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. Eucharistic Mass with the Reverend Jamie Flowers officiating. Interment followed at Mansfield Cemetery.

Kermie was born on September 21, 1931 in Thomas, Texas and passed away peacefully on November 6, 2019 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Celeste Lenoir Valentine, his parents Walter Thomas and Evelyn Smith Valentine and a brother, Thomas Charles Valentine and his wife Billie. Kermie is survived by his daughter June Langford and husband Rick of Shreveport, La, his son Rhonny Valentine and wife Andrea of Natchitoches, LA. his grandchildren whose pursuits he greatly supported: Ben Langford, wife Christin and their daughter Madeleine; Claire Broussard, husband Jacob and their children Sophia, Amelie, Mary Celeste and Guvie Paul; Brian Langford and wife Erin Langford, M.D.; Drew Valentine and wife Tiffany; and Leslie Anne Valentine. Additionally, Kermie is survived by special nieces Beth Valentine Adams and Lisa Beck White.

A long-time resident of Mansfield, Louisiana, Kermie lived his life to the fullest. After graduating from Oak Grove high School in 1948 and Northwestern State University in 1952, he began his career teaching and coaching at Oak Grove High School for the next nine years. In 1961, Kermie opened and successfully operated Valentine Ready Mix Concrete in Many, LA until his retirement in 1996. Throughout his life Kermie served his community on various boards including: Senior Warden and Vestry Member at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church, Desoto Parish School Board, Board of Directors Community Bank of Louisiana, President of Mansfield Nursing Center and a member of the Board of Directors of the Sabine River Authority.

Serving as pallbears will be Ben Langford, Brian Langford, Drew Valentine, Joey Beck, Bryan White and Jacob Broussard. Honorary pallbears include: D. Scott Brown, Reimer Calhoun Jr., William E. Dorroh, Calvin Jones, A.W. McDonald, Jr., Herman Lawson, Sonny Hall, Judson Rives, the Board of Directors at Community Bank of Louisiana and Board of Directors at Management Seven Nursing Home Corporation.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Pierre Blanchard, the staff of Montclair Park Assisted Living and St. Joseph Hospice. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Linda Mitchell, Furilene Carroll, Doris Howard, Delores Jones, Patricia Farruya and Regina Allen for the loving and compassionate care they provided for our father and Pop Pop.

LITA KAREN “COOKIE” CREECH THOMPSON

A memorial service for Lita Karen “Cookie” Creech Thompson was held at the First Baptist Church of Logansport, LA on Thursday, November 7, 2019, with visitation held prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Karen, lovingly known throughout her life as “Cookie”, was born in Logansport, LA on August 17, 1949 to parents Lloyd “Shug” Creech and Betty VanCleave Creech. She died peacefully at home in Center, TX on November 3, 2019.

She is survived by her son, Charlie B. Thompson of New Orleans, LA; brothers Billy Creech of Logansport, LA and Sam Creech and husband Michael “Niko” Corolla of Irving, Texas, along with several sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Cookie is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thompson, her parents, Lloyd “Shug” and Betty VanCleave Creech, and brother, Danny Creech.

As an active and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Logansport for many years, Cookie taught Sunday School and assisted with the church’s children’s activities. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Cookie” and “The Candy Lady” by the children. Other ministry areas that she served on included being a member of the Building and Grounds Committee, Special Occasions Committee, and the Women’s Ministry Team. Cookie was an active member of the WMU, and was thrilled to travel with members of her church family to Kentucky to see and experience “The Ark” earlier this year.

Always a dedicated worker, Cookie was a committed bookkeeper and office manager for Boles Enterprises in Shelby County for over 30 years. She was the owner of Austin Street Marketplace in Center, TX where she dealt in antiques, restored furniture, and produced beautiful hand painted artwork.

Although Logansport was her hometown, Cookie was also active in her adopted home of Center and Shelby County, Texas. She served as a founding member of the Lake Area Art League, and as an organizer for the happenings at the Shelbyville Hill Festival for several years. It was her pleasure to support various other local organizations and civic activities with her skills and talents, always leaving her trademark gift of beauty with her unique flair.

Cookie woke her social media friends up each day with her “Good Morning” posts in addition to making those same lucky friends smile with her daily humor. She freely shared her God given talents as an artist and decorator with all. The lives that Cookie touched were indeed blessed and enriched by knowing this Godly lady that will be missed by all.

MARCELLA VIRGINIA "CHENA" RAMBIN ROBBINS

Marcella Virginia "Chena" Rambin Robbins passed away at 11:10 pm on Friday November 1, 2019, All Saints Day. She was born September 26, 1929 to Amos and Lucille Rambin. She was one of 11 siblings raised during the Great Depression and WWII, events that shaped her as well as our great country.

Her parents taught her that unwavering faith, unconditional love and unfailing hope would take her through all seasons of life and Chena was the perfect example of these virtues to not only her parents and siblings, husband of 56 years Marvin Robbins, and their 10 children, 21 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren, but also to innumerable aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Everyone who ever met Chena found in her a wellspring of love, comfort, and acceptance, regardless of race, creed or economic status. She once said, "This family never throws anyone away. We keep each other...always".

Chena is preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 1 sister, husband Marvin, daughter in law, Cheryl Robbins, grandson, Dylan Roy, granddaughter, Amy Deramus, grandson, John Cailin Moore and recently her son John Robbins.

She is survived by two brothers, Stanley Rambin and wife Anne, and Danny Rambin and wife Ramona, one sister Margie Stites, her children, Cecilia Deramus, Andrew Robbins, Roseanne Robbins, Gay Blackmon, Daymon Robbins, Theresa Robbins, Cathy Roy, Laura Simmons and husband Bryan, and Belinda Moore, as well as her 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Serving Chena as pallbearers were Thomas Zimmerman, Robert Deramus, Justin Roy, Christopher McKinnon, Lucas Roy, Noah Robbins, Zachary Moore and Keith Austin. Honorary pallbearer was Jude Robbins. Funeral services were held at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield LA on Tuesday November 5, 2019 followed by burial at Oxford Cemetery.

Memorial services honoring the life of Steffany Sewell Martin will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Southside Baptist Church in Mansfield, LA with Rev. Frankie Mathis officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the church.

Steffany was born December 31, 1980 in Shreveport, LA and entered rest on November 10, 2019 in Mansfield, LA. She was the daughter of Ricky Charles Sewell and Cheri Kay Springer Sewell. Steffany was employed at DeSoto Regional Health System as a Registered Nurse in the ER.

She is preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents, Margaret Ann Springer and Lennis B. Springer; Paternal Grandparents, Wesley Sewell and Evelyn Sewell VanArsdel; Father-In-Law, Melvin Lynn Martin, Sr.

Left to cherish her memory is her Husband, Melvin Lynn Martin, Jr. of Mansfield, LA; Parents, Ricky Charles Sewell and Cheri Kay Sewell of Mansfield, LA; Sons, Levi Sewell Martin and Trevor Lynn Martin of Mansfield, LA; Step-Daughter, Shelby Lynn Martin of Longview, TX; Sister, Brittany Sewell Brandt and husband William of Mansfield, LA; Bonus Sister; Alison Coleman and husband Cotton; Nieces and Nephews, Sunnie Brandt, Tyler Brandt,Will Brandt and Avery Brandt.

ROBERT CLARENCE BISSETT

On November 6, 2019, Robert Clarence Bissett, passed away at the age of 78. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, and cousin. Bob was born in Ballinger, Texas on July 7, 1941, to Derward Cleo Bissett and Eula May Clark Bissett. Bob was a banker for many years. He enjoyed piddling around in his workshop and fishing. He also enjoyed hunting in Texas.

Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Bissett, daughter, Denise Guilbeaux, sister, Brenda Bissett Fleetwood, grandson, Michael Jacob Guilbeaux (Rebecca), and great-granddaughters, Hannah Ann Guilbeaux and Ella Claire Guilbeaux, and cousins, Chris and Linda Bissett, and Randy and Mary Ruth Curtis. The love of his life was Opie, his precious dog who stayed by his side through his illness.

A memorial service was held on November 8, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield, Louisiana. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Sanca, Mike Melton, Bryan Cobb, and Dale Armstrong. Internment will be held in Ballinger, Texas, at a later date.

REV. ROBERT C. MILLER

Funeral services for Reverend Robert C. Miller were held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Permenter and Rev. Lee Dixon officiating. Family received friends for visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment was held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Converse, LA.

Robert was born on December 21, 1932 in Negreet, Louisiana to Rev. Versie Robert Miller and Florie Sibley Miller. He entered into rest on Friday, November 8, 2019 in Sherman, Texas.

Rev. Miller was a minister for over 45 years and pastored churches in Aimwell, Benson and Mansfield, Louisiana. He worked over 40 years at Community Bank and was on the Board of Directors at the time of his death. His favorite hobby was spending time with his grandchildren. He graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1952 and graduated from Louisiana College in Pineville with a BA in History and Religious Education.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Jean Brown Miller of Sherman, Texas; son, Larry R. Miller, M.D., PHD and wife, Cecilia of Sherman, Texas; brother, Julius Miller of Ragley, Louisiana; grandchildren, Robert Stephen Miller and wife, Jordan of San Antonio, Texas and Thomas Lee Miller of Sherman, Texas.

Honoring Rev. Miller as pallbearers were members of the Board of Directors of Community Bank.
