Funeral services honoring the life of J. E. Holmes, Sr., 85, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Longstreet United Methodist Church in Longstreet, LA. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Logansport Funeral Home on Monday, July 30, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. J.E. was born March 2, 1933, in Longstreet, La, to Paul Fullove Holmes & Cleo Ellen Powell. He passed away on July 28, 2018, in Shreveport, LA. Preceding J.E. in death were both of his parents and a brother Glynn Holmes. Those left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years Edna Holmes of Longstreet, La, Sons: J.E. “Homer” Holmes, Jr. & wife Melody of Longstreet, LA and Mark Holmes & wife Nisha of Shreveport, LA., Sisters: Pauline Bunch & husband Myron of Sulphur LA, & Linda May & husband Paul of Longstreet, LA, Brothers: Douglas Holmes & wife Lucille of Rosenberg, TX., Hollis Holmes & wife Geraldine of Longstreet, LA, & Wallace Holmes and wife Helen of Longstreet, LA. Granddaughter: Krystal Land & husband Jeremy, Grandson: Seth Holmes, Step- Granddaughter, Sara Ray and, and Great Grandchildren: Hailey, Taylor, & Bethany Land. Honoring J.E. as pallbearers were Chris Fox, Jerry Cobb, Jerry Pyle, Seth Holmes, Bill Gray, Tilghmon Tolson, Rodney Arbuckle & Harold Scott. Serving as an honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Land, C.D. Holmes, Jimmy Holmes, Sr., Jerry Gamble & Rajah Huff.
